Today I've got a series of sunny swimming pool nudes - just the thing for a rainy December morning (at least it is here in Northern California).This is the fourth set of this girl I did for LSG, at the Chateau in Normandy last September. We'd planned on shooting a number of the models in the water, but Ronni was the only one brave enough to get in the pool with me. (It seems that everyone in the Czech Republic believes that cold water will make a woman sterile; so don't place any bets on their swim team in the next Olympics.)

I love this series, and this model - so much so that I couldn't decide on the best image to use for our "cover" shot. I'll let you decide which one you prefer: the classy Vogue-like shot of Ronni climbing out of the pool, or the other image, which I'd say appeals more to our baser instincts (not that there's anything wrong with that..)

A few years ago, I was approached by a woman who wanted to be photographed in character, with white Kabuki make-up, as a Chinese courtesan from antiquity. (first image of the set shows her without the make-up)

We produced a number of photo sessions for this project, but what I'm posting today is a rather short, simple series of her "interacting" with a 5000 yr old Jade ....carving.

For those who like their women tall, strong, and domineering, today's update gallery of Ivana should be of interest. This is from her second session in the Prague studio.

Ivana is well over 6 ft tall and works as a lingerie model all over Europe. She's perfectly proportioned for the job, and of course it was a pleasure to be shooting nudes of her - but I did have to rearrange the studio lights to accommodate her height.

I'm back from Europe, with about 200gb of new work to review and process. That will take some time, but I still have quite a few unposted sessions from our summer trip, including another of popular Ronni in the Prague studio. (Not Natalie Portman's younger sister, but the resemblance is interesting.)

For the "cover" shot of this group, I was tempted to use several different photos. There are a number of rather explicit images in this series, and as you can see I chose a cover image that may seem almost dull by comparison - but I hope you'll agree that this simple nude portrait is really quite erotic and seductive. I find the combination of innocence and invitation in her eyes to be a knock-out. Even after going over all the full frontal, open legs shots, I come back to this one...

I'm writing this from our apartment location in downtown Prague. We're here with LSG (London Studio Group) for another week of sessions with about a dozen Czech fashion and lingerie models.

My normal updates will be delayed this week, since I'm shooting seemingly non-stop, but I do have time tonight to put up some samples of what we're doing. I'll post a few on the blog page (see below), and more in the Private Archive, and then of course some of the full sessions when I get back to California.

As with the last two trips, we're finding all the Czech girls to be beautiful and sweet, and quite uninhibited.

As many of you know, my background in photography is based in classic b&w work, and old-fashioned film. As you probably also know, most of the recent galleries being shown in the Archive are shot with digital cameras, in color.

Today's update is an example of a digital series, converted to black & white in the computer, and the result is really quite nice. The gallery of Nela P3BW is mostly the same set as the earlier Nela photos, with some simple adjustments done in Photoshop. For those interested in these things, you may want to compare this set to the recent Natalie (Set 2) gallery, which was originally shot with b&w film and then scanned.

Although there are some of us who still love the look of a distinct film grain from a scanned negative, I think you can see why the new technology will soon replace the film world altogether. The b&w conversions from the digital files are beautiful, if done correctly, so we may as well get used to it.

(One caveat: there is still nothing in the digital world like a well done, hand-made b&w fiber print)

Here's another series of Nela, one of my favorites of the Czech fashion models I've been shooting for the LSG site.

I really like this group of photos, as she seems both sophisticated and then at times like a little girl (note the braces..) And at the end of the set, you can see her true personality - just a cute teenager - as she breaks up and can't stop giggling for a few shots (even while completely naked), before she's able to regain her composure and finish up with that traditional snooty fashion model look.

Today, a quick updated / reformatted gallery of January spread out on the new studio rug.

I'm posting a new series of January, shot in color using my traditional canvas backdrop. This was done shortly after the move to the new studio, and was really just a test of some new lighting. She will also be featured on the new LSG site, which we expect to have operating in the next few weeks.

(If anyone out there is keeping track, this is actually the first session I did with her, although I've previously posted a couple series done that same day. As we reformat the Private Archive, we are also re-numbering the sessions.)

Everyone's favorite, Natalie, returns - we're posting Session 2 in the new format.

Natalie has been by far my most popular model, not only with web visitors and site members, but with print collectors and publishers worldwide.

For those of you who've been long time members, you may have seen some of these images on the site before (or in a number of books and magazines); but now the images are twice as big, and of course, Natalie is still ... well endowed.

This session is the second I shot of Natalie, and you can see she's still young and unpretentious, in addition to having the most unusual body shape (in a good way). I believe her great popularity over the years is due not only to her unique body, but to her natural beauty and innocence. You can tell she's not a professional model, is not quite sure of herself in front of the camera, and yet creates the most alluring and seductive poses without even trying.

One more additional reformatting to the Archive galleries; this one is Nela's first Prague set, from this summer.

With today's update, we're going back to the painted canvas for a recent private commission with Alex. (As opposed to her first timid session with me a couple years ago, she now seems quite fond of the camera, and of the rope...)

This session was greatly assisted by the rigging work of local SF rope expert Loki, who installed the appropriate equipment so we could dangle Alex from the studio ceiling, which is what she'd requested.

As time allows, we're switching the previous galleries to the new format - today, Ivana P1 has been updated.

Here are some photos that were taken just a couple days ago in my Oakland studio. The model is Layla (parents evidently big Clapton fans) She was visiting from LA. and we spent the day doing five or six different sessions for the LSG project.

You'll see some very explicit poses here - not that there's anything wrong with that, of course. Also, I stayed away from my signature canvas set and forced myself to branch out with some natural light work, as well as some variations on my normal strobe lighting.

Layla is a sweet-heart, no matter how stern she looks in these pics. I'm sure we'll have her back in the studio for more shots in the future.

(For those of you interested in lighting, by the way, you can use an old photographer's trick, and just look closely in her eyes in the portrait shots. There you'll see where the lights are placed, and you may even see me reflected in there between the two big softboxes.)

We've converted the first Ronni gallery from my recent Normandy session to the new format.

Today we're introducing a new gallery format in the Private Archive, and three choices for viewing the photos: small 800 pixels, large 1200 pixels, and extra large 2000 pixels( for downloads only) We've learned that a lot of the members really like the big pictures, but can't see them all at once on their monitors - so starting with today's update, you can view them online and all onscreen, or download the sets for your own personal configuration.

Also, we're starting to do those nifty faux magazine covers that make the photos look so much more sophisticated on some of those other sites. The first one is for Ronni - seen earlier lounging around the grounds at our chateau in France.

This set is actually from a summer series of studio sessions in Prague, and she shows a very different side of herself than the Tomboy from Normandy.

One of my favorite lines from the old Monty Python show was: "And now, for something completely different..." That's what we have for you today - a guest gallery from a mysterious woman in Germany.

I get a lot of email from women who want to be models, or want to show me pictures of themselves naked (really, I do) but recently, I received the following unusual message:

"Dear Craig, I'm Mona from Germany, and I found your website during searching the internet for galleries who could be interested in my work. Whenever I have some free time I shoot myself in the mirror in provocative erotic positions. I think in Germany, which is very conservative, it wouldn't be possible to find anybody willing to show my work. That's the reason why I decided to find somebody abroad, and the United States seems to be the best place for provocative art. Your kind or art reminds me of my own work, I love your pics because they are very open and honest. "

After looking at dozens of Mona's pictures of herself, I decided to accept her offer and post some of them here on the site. These are, as she said, very open and provocative pictures. They're fascinating to me because they give us a glimpse into a woman's sexuality that we (men (mostly) who constantly scour the internet for naked women) rarely get to see.

These are simple, rough, candid shots - all done with a mirror - showing very private moments in Mona's sex life: masturbation, cosplay, exhibitionism, etc. And they become even more stimulating when we realize she's doing this not only for herself, but also deliberately for us to see.

I have a theory, which seems substantiated by Mona's pictures (and her commentary) that, while men are primarily voyeuristic and get a thrill out of simply seeing naked female bodies (that's why you're here, right?), women get an equal thrill out of showing off and being looked at. As Mona says: " ..it makes me horny to see myself in the mirror and photograph my body in very erotic and provocative poses. I would say I'm a bit of an exhibitionist, and at the same time a voyeur. I love my body and especially my very unusual looking pussy. I like to see my pussy - how it is, the very large and long lips make me horny, and because I can't see it normally, I use the mirror. "

Before our hard drive melted in Prague, I discovered that most of the Czech models were quite a bit less inhibited than any American fashion models I'd worked with.

One of the first in the studio was Ivana, who was nearly 6' tall. In her leather stiletto boots, she seemed to tower over me.

I knew she was going to look fantastic naked, but as I asked her to take off more and more of her clothing during the session, I made sure to say "Please" each time in Czech. Fortunately, she was very happy to comply (I think).

This series had to be done quickly, since the girls were going blind from staring into the sun just behind me. And then there were some complaints about bark and splinters...

Here is a series of shots done last month in a small forest in Normandy, with three different models. These are really just classic b&w nude portraits - with each girl in turn posing in front of the others - but I think each one is quite sexy.

A few weeks ago, I mentioned shooting fashion models in Prague for LSG, but I haven't had the time to sort through the 50 or 60 sessions I shot there - until now.

Here is a simple set of photos of one of my favorites, Nela. You'll see she has a sexy glow about her - due, I suspect, to my seductive personality, and perhaps to the the 100 degree heat in the studio that day.

(Tip for digital photographers: when shooting in 100 degree heat, be sure to back up your hard drive and keep it in a cool environment. If you don't, you'll get what we got: valuable experience, and a huge bill from the data recovery company.)

After a week in France with the London Studio Group, and a handful of Czech fashion models, I'm now decompressing back in England.

The photos we did during the week are perhaps a bit more conventional than my usual studio sessions, but I think you'll still enjoy seeing these galleries that I'll be posting from time to time.

For instance, while waiting for one model to be finished with make-up, I spotted Ronni having a cigarette (nobody's perfect) out in the garden. She was dressed in casual tomboy clothes, with messy hair and flip-flops, and I thought she was the cutest thing I'd ever seen.

I asked her to go with me out to the old table and chairs I'd found at the edge of the forest, and this is the series that resulted.

I'm writing tonight from a chateau in the Normandy countryside in Western France. I realize that sounds a bit pretentious, but I doubt I could have gotten these seven beautiful girls to disrobe and climb on a bed together if I'd invited them to a Motel 6 in Oakland.

In any case, this series is being posted just for fun, and to give a glimpse of some of the faces that will be appearing here in the near future.

It was shot at the end of a long day, just yesterday afternoon, and all of us were exhausted - the models were happy to be told to just jump on the bed and relax, without trying to look erotic or seductive; and I was happy to take a few candid snaps.

Veronika is a rather well-known model from the Czech Republic and often appears on glamour / nude web sites (and we'll have more of her here shortly) I'd just finished a session with Veronika when the next model arrived. I noticed right away that the two models' skin colors were dramatically different, and I wanted to shoot them together somehow.

Veronika had to leave, so I didn't have time for a real session with the two of them, but I asked her if she'd just quickly run back in and take off the other model's clothes and then stand beside her.

I like this series, not because it's particularly erotic, but because you can follow the transition from awkwardness to embarrassment to fun and then finally to the standard sexy model poses we usually see.

I'm working on more of the Tiana sessions I shot for LSG in June. Here is the beginning of Set 4, a simple series where she just removes her clothes in front of a gray backdrop.

Also we're bumping up the size of the image files to 2000 pixels, since that looks really good on my new 30" Cinema Display.

Today's set is a short series of January doing a horizontal dance on my studio carpet. This is the third or fourth session where I've shot someone on this carpet. I love the way it frames the model, making it almost appear she's hanging on the wall.

The only downside is that to get these shots, I must hang out over the mezzanine balcony and hand hold the big Nikon D2X. I'm working on a customized tripod solution, so I'm sure you'll see more of this theme in the future.

A few more samples from the recent European shoots are going up today, including models Michelle, Petra, and Veronicka. We're hoping to have a more extensive selection to post in a few days.

It's time for another edition (way past time, actually) of the Private Archive Monthly review. I've been travelling and shooting in Europe much of the summer, so I'm just now catching up with everything back here in my California studio.

To make up for lost time, I'm posting a special Review this month, with extra samples of some of the new work from London and Prague, plus a selection of earlier work that you may not have seen for a while.

You'll notice that the newer work is being posted at much bigger resolutions. We're still working on resizing a lot of my early photos, which will be apparent as we update some of the older galleries.

This time, I'm posting some shots of Mimi in suspension and bound on the studio floor. (As I've said before, the rope shots are not for everyone, but I can testify that the models certainly seem to enjoy these sessions..)

I'm back in the US, after a tiring tour of naked girls from London to Prague. We shot almost non-stop in studios and apartments in both cities, stills and video, and I'm finally able to post some of the samples here. (The videos will be appearing shortly on the London Studio Group suite of sites.)

You'll no doubt notice a freshness to these models, and a lack of tattoos and piercings - which is a big part of why we went there to shoot. Some of these girls are just beginning their careers, and I suspect you'll be seeing them on other sites, or in magazines before too long.

We've just finished a week of intense shooting in Prague, for the new London Studio Group project. The galleries of Tiana going up today are from my Oakland studio, but will also appear on the new site.

On my way to London for a couple weeks of intense shooting - today I'm testing some new software for uploading images and editing the site. If this works well, I'll be able to keep the members updated on all the shoots from London and Prague.

I'm working on a new project these days for a series of web sites called London Studio Group. We'll be doing work in various spots in Europe over the summer (and members of my Private Archive will be the first to see the results).

As a start on this venture, I've started doing a lot more experimenting with natural light and non-canvas environments. The new shots of January (the model, not the month) going up today are part of this project. I have several sets with her, which you'll be seeing over the next few weeks.

The rest of Set 1 from last week's session with the beautiful Tiana is going up today.As some of you have noticed, we're now sizing the images a bit larger - I hope they'll still fit on most screens.

A busy week - I just have time today to post a few shots from one of several sessions done over the weekend. This time I'm testing not only the lighting, but also the new Nikon D2X - in addition to some Photoshop CS settings.The sessions with Kristin, Calico and Tiana were done with the same studio lights, but then processed with different adjustment settings. More of all of these models coming shortly.

I'm contining to test the light in my new studio. During the Calico shoot I noticed I had way too much backlight for my taste, so I've since installed some curtains over the massive windows.This new series with Kristin starts out with the old standard backdrop, both in color and in b&w, and I'll shortly be posting a few other lighting situations using this same model.

As some of you may know, I'm in the midst of a studio move - about half-way done (or half started, depending on your perspective) and I thought you might like to see the results of the very first session shot there, yesterday.These are some samples of the natural light shots I did with a new model, Calico, in the new space. One of the great features of the studio is a large mezzanine, from which I can shoot straight down, so this first group shows her from above. (more coming shortly)Don't worry, there's a lot more of Natalie coming up, as well as the rest of Seven.

We're continuing to work on the new Natalie scans, but while we get those ready for posting, I've also been reviewing my first session with Seven, another of the member favorites.These have never been published before, and they show her before she went into some of the more severe scenes I've seen in her recent films.

I'm told I was featured on Playboy TV last night - they finally ran the Sexcetera piece they filmed here over a year ago, mostly covering my private commissions and some bondage photography.If anyone saw the show, please let me know how it came out. Also, it will evidently be broadcast several times over the month of April - will try to get the exact air dates shortly.

You'll notice the rope work here, done by yours truly, lacks the intricacy and sophistication found in my more recent collaborations with Midori.I say that without embarassment, since I was just a kid at the time. I've since learned to leave most of the knotty work to the experts.(However, even now, I don't think I would outsource the exquisite task of wrapping up that particular body.)

First day of Spring, and it's time for some Spring-cleaning. We're updating all the Natalie galleries this week and next.You'll see larger, more detailed scans, some more color shots, and a few things that have never been posted before (including the original magazine cover from our first shoot)

Some of the older members of the audience may be familiar with something we used to call "film". (It was popular around the time of Paul McCartney's first back-up band, the "Beatles") This series I'm starting to post today comes from some experimental work I used to do with the stuff.There was a time when photographers would shoot dozens of rolls of film - using colored gels, cross processing, tungsten film with daylight strobes, etc - to try to achieve some new unusual look to their pictures. (These same magical effects can now be figured out in about 5 minutes by any 10-year-old using Photoshop.)So I thought the photo enthusiasts among you might be interested in seeing some of these experiments - and of course for those who are only here for the naked girls, there's that too.The model is Cassie, new to the site, from a session done for Penthouse (a b&w series of her will be coming up soon)

Today, I'm presenting a new Guest Gallery, with the work of photographer / designer / producer / painter / curator Michael C. Gross.Normally I'm skeptical of anyone with so many fields of expertise, but Michael's resume is rather impressive - from Art Director of the National Lampoon to producer of such films as Ghostbusters and Twins - and as you'll see, his erotic photography is unusual, thoughtful and defintely worth a look. (also see his website, called MikeyandMandy.com)

I first met Seven when she was working in a fetish clothing store. I don't often ask complete strangers to pose for me, but in this case I made an exception.In person, she's sweet and shy, but get her in a vinyl dress and handcuffs, and its a different story.In this series, rope work provided by San Francisco's infamous fetish diva Midori.

OK, we now have some of the Haley scans up. I'll be adding more to this gallery shortly.

I know I promised more of little Haley, but we've been having scanner problems - should be remedied shortly.

In the meantime, here's a quick series of a brand new model, Hannah - and yes, the second picture is supposed to be upside down, since that's the way she was.

I'm posting another before/after combination, this time of 18 yr old Haley. When I first met her she looked like she'd just finished a softball game, and she had a cute awkward way about her that sharply contrasts with some of the slick Hollywood nudes I've learned to hate.You'll immediately notice the crooked smile and the nervous pose - these are the kinds of authentic features that I think make non-professional models so much more appealing.

I finished the remaining Robbie scans over the weekend, so they're all up now.

I'm working on another of the dancer series I shot for Penthouse. I used to shoot "before and after" shots, showing models as they arrived and then later in a similar pose without clothes.

It's been done before, and it's frankly a bit korny, but still kind of fun, so I'm starting out with one of these paired shots of Robbie from Portland. The rest should be up shortly.

I've finished with the Yolanda files.(I wish I could tell you her real name, because it's one of the best names for a girl that I've ever heard - and so much better than "yolanda". )

Also, starting yesterday, I've begun to add some galleries from our "Partner" sites. These are promotional galleries, but I'm using photos that aren't available to the general public - so you'll get to see a good selection of their inside content without having to join those sites (unless you want to..)

I'm starting to post a series from my classic "Erotic Dancer" sessions, shot for Penthouse. This is Denni, an extremely felixible dancer, as you'll see. A few today, and more tomorrow.

Note: I've started doing brand new scans of these images, and increased the on screen size a bit.

As some of you may know, I've been shooting quite a few private commissions for couples or for women who just want to be photographed nude. Most of these sessions don't show up here in the Archive, since the clients wish to keep the shots to themselves.But every once in a while, one of my commissions not only produces some great shots, but the client also gives permission to have a few images posted on ths site.

Today's update is Michelle, who came to the studio for a private session and had such a nice time that she overcame her shyness and allowed me to post some of the shots.

A few folks have written to say they need a bit more time to make their final decisions on print choices this year, so I've extended the print sale until Jan 11.

I know I've said this before, but just fyi: my preferred darkroom materials are getting more and more difficult to find each year, and I suspect there will come a time in the near future when they are simply not available any more. In the age of digital pictures, darkrooms will soon be a quaint dim memory - so I advise anyone who has any interest in acquiring hand-made fiber prints to do it now.
