An Observer workshop is an opportunity
to attend an actual Studio Nudes photo session and observe from
beginning to end how a shoot is designed, set up, worked though
and completed. Workshop participants will be able to discuss
the shoot with the Craig Morey before, during and after the session.

We begin with a discussion of
philosophy and technique, both artistic and technical. I show
original prints and discuss my working style from sketching ideas
for images to completing the final prints. While there will be
a great deal of discussion, observation and q&a, the workshop
attendees will not be photographing the model. Cameras are permitted,
but only for non-flash candid snapshots.
A light lunch and drinks will
be provided during a mid-day break.
These workshops are open to anyone,
age 18 and older, regardless of photographic experience.
Attendance is limited and reservations
will be taken on a first come, first served basis.

Emeryville, Ca. (near San Francisco)
Confirmed participants will be given the studio location and
directions after signup.
Workshop Schedule
Morning 9:00am - 12:30:
Studio set-up - observe and participate
in preparing the classic canvas set and studio lighting.
Portfolio presentation, discussion
of images from 1970s to present. Discussions
of photo techniques, cameras, lighting, printing techniques and
archival processing.
12:30 Lunch break (a light
lunch will be provided)
Afternoon 1:00 - 4:00
Photo shoot. This will be a b&w
nude session with one female model, using my standard studio
set-up. Participants will observe the shoot and may ask questions
during and afterwards. I will discuss the shoot as it proceeds,
showing Polaroid shots and explaining planned poses and angles.
Wrap 4:00 - 5:00
There will be a final period
for additional questions and review of the shoot. If the model
is wiling, there will be an opportunity for Q&A.
Portfolio Review
Optional: For those with photographic
experience, especially with nudes, we usually have a short session
of review work brought in by workshop attendees. Bring a small
portfolio of 10 to 20 prints, preferably protected with acetate
or plastic covers.

The workshop fee is 160.00 for
non-members and 140.00
for members of the Private Archive, prepaid and non-refundable*.
Signed prints, posters and books, and other discounted items
will be available at the workshop.
(For anyone who pays but cannot
attend, a credit will be given for a future workshop. *A full
refund will be offered if the photographer cancels the workshop
for any reason. See Agreement and Disclaimer below)
Deadline
You must submit your registration
and complete payment at least one week prior to the workshop
date. Payment will be returned if all slots have been filled,
or you will be given optional workshop dates to choose.

By registering for this workshop

No publication of any photographs
taken at these workshops will be allowed without prior written
permission of Craig Morey. No public dissemination of any materials
handed out or information discussed at a workshop is allowed
without the prior written permission of Craig Morey.
You will be attending the workshop
and the studio at your own risk. You hereby waive your right
to seek redress for any accident, mishap, inconvenience, financial
loss or other real or perceived injury incurred in association
with your registration or attendance. You agree to hold harmless
Craig Morey, MoreyStudio, its owner, agents, representatives,
contractors, and other legal associates for any loss or injury
you may suffer at, or en route to or from our premisis, or for
any legal or criminal action taken against you by third parties.
You will be attending a photo
session that may include full and explicit nudity, frank discussions
of the human body and nude artwork, and simulated or real sexual
activity by models. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed
to attend, and by your registration you affirm that you are not
legally or otherwise prohibitted from attending such an event.
Participants are requested not to photograph the models except
at specific times set aside for them to do so. Inappropriate
behavior toward the models, photographer, or other workshop participants
will not be tolerated.
Your registration fee is non-refundable,
but should you be unable to attend, you will receive a credit
for a similar workshop at a future date. The unlikely event of
a cancellation of the workshop by the photographer, due to illness,
unforseen schedule changes or severe weather, will be the only
cause for a full refund of the workshop fee - however, no additional
payment, compensation or reimbursement will be made in such a
case; that is, no reimbursement for travel or any other expenses
or inconvenience will be made in the case of a workshop cancellation.
Those with confirmed registrations
will be given specific directions to the workshop location in
Emeryville CA.
